Always one-handed the Estoc for poise-break and spells to change things up. Skipped the spells early on DS3 since they're so weak, went pure DEX. Picked up the Estoc with the Assassin class, been enjoying it. Decided to check Reddit for some Dark Souls lore and content, and I see a lot of people hating on the Estoc. The Estoc is basically a Str based Rapier. With the Ring of Blades and Old Leo Ring, it's unstoppable. That’s a good setup for a strength build. I loved the estoc in both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, but the Dark Souls 2 version seems a bit underwhelming. It has lower scaling and lower base damage than the rapier, and because criticals are much harder to get this time around, the whole "high crit damage" aspect of thrustings swords seems to be a lot less useful.
