I have tried to beat AW-4s into submission without luck, including towing 6,000+ lb. trailers (and not gently!) and just plain being dumb. If you aren't planning to use your XJ to tow with, it should handle the 4bt.93-98 Grand Cherokees are ZJs (WJ was 99-04 Grands).
